Garden of thoughts (2019)
“Garden of the thoughts” series is the body of work showing collections of drawings based on daily life. There are subjects that it occurs in the drawings occasionally such as a chair, flowerpots, and a closet. These are the object that exists near my space, and also have meanings to me. From this, I chose these things and created an embossed print, and create images on the glass to be laid over to make a layered scene. Each scene has a narrative story, and it connects to other, but also it can present the story by its own. The daily drawings are transferred onto a transparent glass surface, with finely engraved lines and clear glass enamel that are subtly visible to the observer who pays close attention to find them. The drawings are about personal past experiences and knowledge, and it used to contain narrative glorifying everyday life. In this body of work, the complete image is hard to see without a proper angle of the light source. Because my daily drawings based on my thoughts, which are initially invisible and vague, I wanted to create a drawing that is only visible with a specific setup using glass and light. And from this, I would like to invite the viewers to come closer to the piece and obtain the experience to see my glass drawings when the light is hitting the glass.
